Tender Is
analogue film, 3:35min, 2024
Tender is a theme in the physical world within the Bloedel Conservatory where this analogue 16mm film was created using a Bolex camera with handmade Hindi text and lattice style matte box filters. Poetry by Tanishiqa Gupta in Hindi and English and meditative audio composition by Renzo Cheesman.
Tender is the film making process, rewinding and filming again, exposing images onto the previously exposed film, such as the text burned into the film done in a dark corner in the conservatory.
Tender is the pulled color film in the Bolex, altered into abstract blurred flora within the conservatory.
Tender is the black + white film hand developed and processed by the artist. The gelatinous emulsion altered in tactile processes of mordencage, monoflex, contact printing and drawing with ink on film, with the timelines spliced together.
